The Brody Project for Animal Assisted Therapy
Committed to improving human health through the assistance of
therapy animals. Offering Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) to
facilities and organizations that provide treatment to children and
adults.
AAT is a goal-directed
intervention. Therapy
animals that meet specific
criteria are an integral part
of the treatment process.
The Brody Project
coordinates referred
patients and their health
care providers with teams
(a therapy animal and its
handler), to work together
on rehabilitation treatment
goals.
AAT teams work one-on-one with physical, occupational, speech
and recreational therapists, nurses, social workers and other
health care professionals to identify and achieve specific goals
for the referred patient. A credentialed therapist working within
the scope of their practice or profession sets therapeutic goals,
guides the interaction between referred patients and animal,
measures progress toward meeting therapy goals and evaluates
the progress.
